Book suggestions?

Postby qwertyuiopl » Thu Aug 17, 2017 8:33 pm

I like mostly fantasy- Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, the Magyk series, the Warriors series, and the Magisterium books are probably my five favourite series. I also really like Andrew Clemens as an author. I'm running low so suggestions would be really nice. Thanks!

Everyone seems to like the dystopian genre, so I'll throw in 1984, the novel I'm reading now.

I feel complied to revive my old book discussion thread.

Personally, i believe that the best book ever written is A Hundred Years of Solitude, by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
Really, it takes your way of seeing the world, twists it, rapes it, kills it, revives it and then inserts it back into your brain. Of course it's not the same if you don't read it in spanish but whatever, it's still great. If you prefer darker things i would recomend The Shining and Doctor Sleep, both by Stephen King.
The original Scott Hicks.
Doctor,Survivor and Spy prefered.

Space Station 13 Aka TOS in space WITH VIOLENCE AND CLOWNS. <External Link>

I was Blackmailed into placing these:

I'd suggest The Giver and the other books in that series. Skulduggery Pleasant was another nice series.

Oh, and you might also like A Wrinkle In Time.

And if you're interested in more fantasy-ish novels, maybe you would like the Dragonlance chronocles (based off of the D&D campaign setting.)

I also recommend The Giver.

1984 and Animal Farm are also good if you're interested in the topic.

Read Candide by Voltaire. It's old (really old) but great fun.

I also recommend The Giver. It's one of my favorites.
I also suggest Wonder. It's coming out with a movie in November and I'm really excited to see it!

I would like to second this recommendation and also add in The Alchemyst: The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel series. There are 6 books in the series and all of them are truly compelling reads.

Let's Pretend This Never Happened is a book that will have you laughing your ass off every page.

Highly recommend it for anyone that likes comedy in general.

The Dresden Files is a nice urban fantasy series. I have a personal adoration of Tolkien, but his work is difficult to read. The Kingkiller trilogy by Patrick Rothfuss is also excellent, although irritatingly unfinished as of yet.

Highly recommend The Chroniclers of The Wind by Henning Mankell, my personal alltime favorite.

Other good books include
The curious incident of the dog in the night time, the spy who came in from the cold, the day of the jackal, ranger’s apprentice series, The Loop.

If you’re into classics/popular books then go for lord of the flies, to kill a mocking bird, great expectation.

Agree with several posters that 1984 and animal farm are terrific reads.

I’ve also recently bought The Alchemist. Looking forward to reading it.

Thanks parker for the gif and SuperDuper for suggesting rotational sig
