Shadow Faction [Rework in the works!]

Based off characters and concepts from the story I'm writing/revising/procrastinating on, the Shadows of the Abyss have come to Salem to convert the town into the new Shadow Kingdom.

Or you know... escape from their punishments for broken laws...

Anyway, the Shadow Faction is here and with it a few new roles and alignments. Note: Not all roles in this have the same goals!

Alignments:
Shadow (Royal)- The leaders of the Shadow Faction, they unify the Shadows and organize them (Also these roles are unique and not able to be remembered by Amnesiac). Currently the Princess and Blood Knight.
Shadow (Guardian)- Like killing roles though with strings attached, these roles have independent protective functions. Currently the Dark Knight and Stalker.
Shadow (Support)- Roles whose abilities support the Shadows as a faction or disrupts their opponents, may have a unique and inconsistent killing ability. Currently the Trickster, Revenant, and Sorceress.
Shadow (Killing)- Independent killers who usually don't work with the rest of the Shadows. Currently the Warrior and Corrupted.

Princess
Summary: A pale lady who plans to establish her kingdom in Salem.
Spoiler: Princess
Attack: None Defense: None
Alignment: Shadow (Royal)
Abilities:
-Knight and command a Shadow.
Attributes:
-Knighting a Shadow will promote them to a Dark Knight.
-You may order the Dark Knight to protect you or other Shadows.
-You may only have one Dark Knight at a time.
-While you are alive, the Shadows will have a night chat and a unified goal.
-You may become a Blood Knight at the start of any night. (Done by selecting the Moon Button, can be cancelled by selecting the red X button.)
Goal:
Establish a new Kingdom in Salem.
(Wins with Shadows, Survivors.)

Investigation results:
Investigator: Your target is a Lookout, Forger, Amnesiac, Coven Leader, Princess, or Revenant.

Sheriff: Your target is not suspicious.

Consigliere: Your target is a pale royal with a dark aura. They must be a Princess!


Blood Knight
Summary: A pale, red adorned knight who is also the Princess.
Spoiler: Blood Knight
Attack: Basic Defense: Basic
Alignment: Shadow (Royal)
Abilities:
-Attack a person each night.
Attributes:
-While you are alive, the Shadows will have a night chat and a unified goal.
-You may become a Princess at the start of any night. (Done by selecting the Moon Button, can be cancelled by selecting the red X button.)
Goal:
Establish a new Kingdom in Salem.
(Wins with Shadows, Survivors.)

Investigation results:
Investigator: Your target is a Bodyguard, Godfather, Arsonist, Crusader, Dark Knight or Blood Knight.

Sheriff: Your target is a Shadow.

Consigliere: Your target is a commanding knight with the face of a royal. They must be a Blood Knight!


Dark Knight
Summary: A black clad knight who serves the Princess.
Spoiler: Dark Knight
Attack: Basic Defense: Basic
Alignment: Shadow (Guardian)
Abilities:
-Protect the princess.
Attributes:
-Your protection puts you in the place of your target, and you will attack any killing roles that visit them.
-You may protect other Shadows if the Princess does not order you to.
-You will become a Warrior if the Princess or Blood Knight dies.
Goal:
Establish a new Kingdom in Salem.
(Wins with Shadows, Survivors.)

Investigation results:
Investigator: Your target is a Bodyguard, Godfather, Arsonist, Crusader, Blood Knight or Dark Knight.

Sheriff: Your target is a Shadow.

Consigliere: Your target is a black ironclad knight. They must be a Dark Knight!


Warrior
Summary: The captain of the Royal Guard, acting as a forward scout for the new kingdom.
Spoiler: Warrior
Attack: Basic Defense: Basic
Alignment: Shadow (Killing)
Abilities:
-Attack a person each night.
Attributes:
-None.
Goal:
Fight for your Kingdom and its expansion.
(Wins with Shadows, Survivors.)

Investigation results:
Investigator: Your target is a Vigilante, Veteran, Mafioso, Ambusher, Pirate, or Warrior.

Sheriff: Your target is a Shadow.

Consigliere: Your target is a proud fighter with a royal crest. They must be a Warrior!


Trickster
Summary: A magic wielding assassin who was exiled from the kingdom.
Spoiler: Trickster
Attack: Powerful Defense: None
Alignment: Shadow (Support)
Abilities:
-Cloak or assassinate a target each night.
Attributes:
-Cloaking a target prevents them from being investigated or roleblocked.
-Cloak is an Astral effect.
-Assassinating a target is undetectable by Town (Protective) roles, and has a three day cooldown.
Goal:
Survive to see darkness fall over Salem.
(Wins with all except Town.)
If there is a Princess then the win conditions are Shadows and Survivors.

Investigation results:
Investigator: Your target is a Framer, Vampire, Jester, Hex Master, or Trickster.

Sheriff: Your target is a Shadow.

Consigliere: Your target is a hooded figure with a mischievous grin. They must be a Trickster!


Stalker
Summary: A thief who cares greatly for their friends.
Spoiler: Stalker
Attack: Basic Defense: None
Alignment: Shadow (Guardian)
Abilities:
-Follow someone each night, seeing if they visit any Shadows.
Attributes:
-If your target visits a Shadow, you roleblock and attack them.
-Immune to roleblock.
-If all other Shadows are dead, you will become a Corrupted.
Goal:
Live alongside the other Shadows.
(Wins with all as long as a Shadow is alive.)

Investigation results:
Investigator: Your target is an Investigator, Consigliere, Mayor, Tracker, Plaguebearer, or Stalker.

Sheriff: Your target is a Shadow.

Consigliere: Your target is a beautiful woman with a dagger. They must be a Stalker!


Corrupted
Summary: A shadow who has lost themself to the corrupting darkness.
Spoiler: Corrupted
Attack: Basic Defense: None
Alignment: Shadow (Killing)
Abilities:
-Attack with reckless abandon.
Attributes:
-Your attack is a basic rampage.
-You must wait a night between each rampage and gain basic defense while waiting.
-You will become a Stalker if any Shadows present themself. (If Amne remembers a dead Shadow's role)
Goal:
Be among the last ones standing.
(Wins with Survivors.)

Investigation results:
Investigator: Your target is a Survivor, Vampire Hunter, Witch/Medusa, Psychic, Sorceress, or Corrupted.

Sheriff: Your target is a Shadow.

Consigliere: Your target is an insane armed Shadow. They must be a Corrupted!


Revenant
Summary: A shadow who feasts upon souls and can heal from most attacks.
Spoiler: Revenant
Attack: None Defense: None
Alignment: Shadow (Support)
Abilities:
-Link with a target.
Attributes:
-While Linked, you have Powerful defense
-If you're attacked, you deal a basic attack to your target.
-If your target does not die from your attack then you will die.
-Select yourself to break the link.
Goal:
Consume the soul of an opponent and survive to the end.
(Wins with all even if dead when a person has been consumed.)

Investigation results:
Investigator: Your target is an Amnesiac, Lookout, Forger, Coven Leader, Princess, or Revenant.

Sheriff: Your target is a Shadow.

Consigliere: Your target is a malicious spirit who drains souls. They must be a Revenant!


Sorceress
Summary: A dark mage who knows forgotten magic and history.
Spoiler: Sorceress
Attack: Basic Defense: None
Alignment: Shadow (Support)
Abilities:
-Cast a spell on a target.
Attributes:
-You may choose between the detect, or focus spells.
-The detect spell interrogates your target.
-Focus enables you to conduct research.
-After three days of research, the focus spell enables you to buff an ally for a night.
-Each spell has a day cooldown.
Goal:
Survive and finish your research.
(Wins with all when research is finished, until then only wins with Shadows and Survivors.)

Investigation results:
Investigator: Your target is a Survivor, Vampire Hunter, Witch/Medusa, Psychic, Corrupted, or Sorceress.

Sheriff: Your target is a Shadow.

Consigliere: Your target studies tomes by candle light. They must be a Sorceress!

Buffs:
Spoiler: Princess- Gains basic defense
Blood Knight- Becomes not suspicious to Sheriff
Dark Knight- Gains the ability to attack directly.
Warrior- Gains rampage attack.
Stalker- Gains Powerful defense.
Trickster- Assassinate becomes an Unstoppable attack.
Revenant- Drain attack becomes a Powerful attack.



Faction Achievements:
Spoiler: Selfish Loner- Win a game as a lone Shadow.
For the new Queen- Win a game as the Shadow faction.
Darkness Grows- Win with half of the Shadow roles.
Darkness Consumed- Win with all of the Shadow roles.
Abyss Born- Win a game without a single Shadow dying.

Wow, is this a unique, interesting and fun faction idea, that also can work just fine with just tw of them and would still make for an interesting faction war game.

Kills a little fast, and some of them have powerful attacks that can take out NK roles (Big no no)

If that's fixed, then yeah this is good.

The killing roles that are present are an independent and a role that is now more like mafioso.

I might remove the Sorceress' attack upgrade though.

Also the ones with powerful attacks have to wait to use them.

No, it just means they give up detection immunity and gf like ability to order another for their basic attack and defense.

Also did you really reference the RP? Shadows are still humans, and I mean human-human. Also I've been trying to write this story for like a decade, and am never happy with what I write so I keep rewriting it.

Nah I was just joking man.

Because of my naming scheme, darkness reminds me of the RP.

Just write your story btw dude. I'm never happy with the shit I produce but I do it regardless even if others judge me. Perfection is impossible for a story, just focus on what you like and others will like it too if its well writen of course. Try writting smaller stories in the same world to help you flesh the world out. This will also force you to stick to your guns, while helping you not get stressed over the ambitious nature of your work.

I develop games in my free time (If i'm not shitposting) and I am currently working on my first game that will be genuinely serious. I'm actually thinking of -as an exercise, not a full-fledged game that i'll release- trying to recreate BtM in a video game format.

The game i'm working is ambitious as hell and its something I have wanted to make since I was 7.

Yeah, my friend Nyx inspired me to really push to write my story but when I reread what I write I always think: "This isn't how I want this to be." I don't aim for perfection, just contention.

Also nice, I used to make flash games for a short bit. They never were spectacular, but I was glad to have something done.

What I like:
The fact that the knights can turn into a dark knight or a princess.
The ability to protect each other.

What needs change:
The killing power. This faction could possibly get around 3 or 4 kills in one night making it ridiculously overpowered and unbalaned.
Blood night attacks killing roles which would be a major setback for town. Basically this will give the princess overuse of the protection/attack ability. It would also only
allow the princess to die if jailed.
The buffs in the spoiler are just a straight up no go. You would give this faction the abilities of rampage (ww), unstoppable attacks (jailor/Arso), and an overpowered sk.

The buffs in the spoiler are just a straight up no go. You would give this faction the abilities of rampage (ww), unstoppable attacks (jailor/Arso), and an overpowered sk.

You Just revived a topic from a 3 months ago, your not the OP as well. If the OP wanted more feedback on the role the OP would of bumped it. You revived a dead topic.

It is in his signature... In my opinion that means they want more feedback. (Hint)

Actually I put this in my signature like three months ago and have been on twice since then. Honestly, I don't plan on reworking this anytime soon, since the story I based this off has been in revision for so long that I straight up quit writing it. This will probably get a major change (if not full on rework) sooner or later.

Fair warning, I know many of the ideas in this are pretty shitty/unbalanced, but I have a lot more knowledge of role mechanics and balancing now than I did then.
