This thread is really random. Somehow, our conversation drifted from books to reading upside down, and then Latewood posted something.

One time about two years ago, I sat in my room and blinked very rapidly to try and see upside down

um ...
-gives annabelle the discworld collection-

-hug-

What is the series about, if I may ask?

The series is set on a world which is a disc(shocker, I know), on the backs of four enormous elephants, which stand on the back of a really big turtle called A'tuin
I have read the first 4 and own the first 7
It's weird, but also really good
also wizards

I'll give a broad description:
the best way to turn a human into into a cat is convince everyone the person is a cat, including that person.

that's all you need to know. it's not a single storyline. it's just a bunch of separate stories all in the same world
a disk, carried by 4 elephants standing on top the great A'tuin (if I'm not mistaken) a turtle swiming through space

as for books, I first saw the hogfather and going postal before reading the colour of magic

I... don't think I would like the series. Seems too weird and not logical.

My reviews of the books of it I've read

The Colour Of Magic: Fantastic, absolutely fantastic, also my gateway into DiscWorld
The Light Fantastic: Also fantastic, continuing from The Colour Of Magic, absolutely great
Equal Rites: Ehh, I didn't enjoy it as much, it's still a good book, but i didn't like it as much
Mort: Brilliant, not as good as The Colour Of Magic, but a close second

Moving on to Sourcery soon

Discworld follows different people or groups on the disc. The books are connected, but you don't have to read them in order.

Rincewind Novels: Basically this is a satire of University or College life. Most of the novels follow Rincewind. You can watch the movie The Colour of Magic and that will give you a pretty good idea of what the wizard books are about. Also, the Colour of Magic is the first book in the Rincewind series so you can find out how he gets the luggage and meets DEATH.

Watch Novels: These books follow the men and women who are part of the Night Watch in Ank-Morpork. Ank-Morpork is the biggest city on the disc and is basically medieval London. It mostly follows Vimes, the commander of the watch. Pratchett has said that he was influenced to write these detective stories after reading Waumbaugh, a writer of crime fiction. This is my favorite series. The first book in this series is Guards! Guards!

The Witches: These books follow three women, Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg, and Magrat Garlic. Granny Weatherwax is one of my favorite characters. The first book in this series is Equal Rites.

Death Novels: These follow DEATH. There is a movie called Hogfather which is one of the later Death novels that deals with his daughter. Great movie for the holidays. Hogswatch is basically a play on our version of Christmas or Yule. First book in that series is Mort.

Moist Von Lipwig: These novels are about a con man forced to become a legitimate honest man. Going Postal is the first book, also a movie, and it's about how Ank-Morpork gets the post office up and running again.

They all take place on the disc so characters from one book can be found in another. Vimes may show up at the university talking to the Chancellor or Granny Weatherwax may visit the city for some reason. Death shows up all over the place.

Here is a partial reading list:

So you are suddenly hanging from the ceiling. Are you using a teleporter to reach the ceiling, or are you defying the laws of physics to hang from the ceiling? Or did you just jump or climb up there?
