This was kind of a meta a while back (you could still use the wiki back then), but after they implemented the ingame rolecards, any jailor that tries this now is an idiot. Or fishing for noobs.

Also vfr is an essential part of the game. If town lacks any leads it's better to vote up randomly because otherwise you have no way to scumread. Because there will be no discussion. And no votes or lack of votes.

I dislike random VFR in day 2 when people just going "oKay LeTs VoTe 1 To 15 cUz wE aRe bRaInDeAd" AND innoing evils who screaming i am scum with their claims and wills and their behavior

but when VFR is necessary or really doing in a right way (voting up susp, quiet people, people with strange behavior or people with contradict wills/roles) OR when its like "its 5 townies vs 2 mafs AND 3 people didnt claimed a role yet, lets get them" them i support this

So yeah, i think 50 games played to gain access to ranked is way too few. You can play 50 games in one week or month. After that time i didn't know anything about the game, so noobs can play on ranked and it's terryfing.
