Hire Kramphter Elves to protect it. Gives +30 resistance to gnome attacks. Sometimes they get through anyway because of bad RNG though.

How's everyone doing?

I'm doing fine.

SparkingJayYT wrote:@FM Mods What is your favourite game setup?

The only way to win is not to play.

In all seriousness, I'd say the old Ranked setup with the Any. The Any gave it that bit of unpredictable randomness that made it great for playing over discord calls with friends (no, I don't play myself anymore - it's like drinking alone. Sure, you can do it, but it's better when you're with someone).

And to the people who will inevitably say "but the Any had too much swing in it and made it unbalanced!":

We're talking most fun, not most balanced.

dota2reporter wrote:What year of the forums was your favorite?

2015. It was a simpler time back then. I could play FM and not get lambasted for every mistake and labeled as "bad player lul". People cared more about having fun and being part of the community over winning.
Then everything changed when the Ranked Nation attacked.

(Putting down a "no u" here for any smartass "ok boomer" replies.)

I think Aure would be a pretty good bet for winning the Hunger Games
Revenge of the Sith was the best Star Wars movie and that’s all I have to say about that.

@lof completely agreed on the 2015 part
maybe because i was 12 years old back then so that's why it feels simpler, but still

No regrets.
I met some great people in the game that will be lifelong friends (and vacation addresses :D)

And as for the forums: Working the forums, and specifically the bug reports section here and on Steam made me learn a lot more about the inner workings of the game (and the inner workings of Google search, not gonna lie).

I met some really amazing friends because of Town of Salem. I met two of them in person 2 summers ago. It's still one of my favorite memories.

The forums challenge me when I am doing an event. Phpbb is very... finicky

hmmm...

I have been around since 2014, although there was a year where I had left the forums for my own reason. For about two years I was an active global mod on many issues. While it isn't my first community, I consider the ToS Forum to be my Internet "home site."

People who knew me way-back-when can vouch for the fact I was terribly depressed. I will admit I did not see myself turning 18 and graduating high school. It truly is a wonder why a lot of people put up with me, some even still to this day. In 2015, I became friends with two members of the forums, getting romantically involved with one of them for just shy of two years. During this time, I went through a lot of self-discovery, but one important thing I learned was how to finally be happy. I don't know what kicked me into depression originally, but my time with this person in particular was incredible and helped me back up on my feet. It is because of them I can identify as an optimist and keep my head up even when times are tough.

It is hard to say I have any regrets, because I was most active on these forums when I was a teenager — really, a kid. We do find ourselves scoffing at and side-eyeing kids online when they do stupids things, but they're kids. In a few years, like us, they'll probbaly be looking back and cringing at the stuff they used to say. I certainly do. Yet, I still wish I could go back and act more mature, you know? There are a lot of scuffles I wish I resolved more amicably. Unfortunately, it is what it is.

But within this muddy swamp, I was able to find many positive take-aways. The forum game VLDR has provided me many friendships that I hope last a long time. It has also allowed me to work on my writing and spreadsheet abilities, both of which skyrocketed over the last year. I have met, in person, five people from the forums six different times, and I was on track to meet two more people (and one repeat) this summer with two separate trips, but neither are likely to be possible due to the current state of the world.

As for that second member I mentioned above, we are still friends to this day. Last year he ordered us matching bracelets that I have worn since I received it. :) I am also in a very lovely relationship with another person on the forums, but I'm sure no one wants to hear me be sappy so I'll just leave it at that.

If you could design a list of "dream patch notes" with every change you'd want to see made to Town of Salem, what would be on it? Top 5 major changes if you don't want to write the whole list.

lets see...

- moved forums to something that isn't the hot garbage spaghetti code mess known as phpbb
- fix ranked so it isn't just wins/losses compared to role winrate but more dependent on how you play (did you vote guilty on scum and innocent on town, did you make good jailor / vigilante shots, did your vet alerts not kill town, did you find scum as sheriff, how long you lived for as scum, etc). Haven't played ranked in a long time but I seem to remember it being mostly based on just if you won or not which meant that if you carried as town or got carried by more experienced players you would get the same amount of points
- idk ill probably add more as i think of them
