You have an equation like this y = ax² + bx + c
Do -b/2a and that will give you the point X of the vertex (being the vertex X;Y it will give you that X)
Now replace that point in the first equation.
So, let's say that you have
y = 2x² + 4x + 12
then you do
-b/2a. That would be -4/2*2 and it's equal to -1. So the vertex is in -1;Y
Now you replace the X with -1
y = 2*(-1)² + 4*(-1) + 12 and that will give you the point Y of the vertex (in this case, 10, so the vertex is the point -1;10)
