Homestuck's Over

Postby KriegVonBlitz » Mon May 02, 2016 9:08 pm

So I literally just finished watching the ending of Homestuck. And, to be honest, I feel empty inside. Like, when you finish Undertale, that same feeling of "What the fuck do i do now".

For those of you who have not seen the "ending" of homestuck (aka act 7), here's the video.

Spoiler:

and now my thoughts on the ending of Homestuck (also spoilers).

Spoiler: Andrew Hussie could not have ended the series any other way than what he did here. While I am slightly disappointed that we don't ACTUALLY get to watch how Lord English dies, i'm not even sure I wanna see that now anyway. But I loved the final scene where we see the "aftermath" of it all, with an actual can town (what i felt was a simply marvelous brick joke) and seeing all of our favorite characters alive, enjoying life in a brand new, carefree world. The idea that they can now live actual, fulfilling lives is an amazing feeling considering the realization that pretty much their entire lives to that point were shams. All in all, reading Homestuck and finally getting to see the ending after all this time just gives me this sense that I somehow accomplished something, sticking through this (kind of) emotional ride, with laughs, deaths, and brick jokes galore strewn about the pages of what I think is the most imaginative, complicated-yet-not-complicated, joyride with so many other people. I don't think we'll get something like this gem for quite some time, and while I am sad that it's ending, the unfortunate truth is all good things must come to an end. But you know what? At least we got to enjoy it in the first place, documented on the internet for all to see, for many years to come.

And with that, i'm off to go take a long, deep breath and subsequently try to sleep, but be unable to because of sudden memory from when I was 8 years old. Homes, smell ya later!

The main feeling of emptiness is realizing you finished Homestuck.

In a show hole.

I like how Homestuck literally became an anime in the end.

Yeah, I liked the stylistic change at the end too. It fit the mood somewhat, and was a nice little parting gift from Andrew.

The ending was absolutely fantastic. Overture was a great choice of music imo.

No, I was horrified because the meme literally became canon.

you would have to read the entire god damn thing for it to make sense. Watching the ending on it's own is like watching the last few scenes of inception without watching anything else.

It's also kind of meta, since there was this huge meme a while back about how "homestuck is my favourite anime xD" and people were drawing fanart that was intended to look like Homestuck was an actual anime

Dude, that is paradise.

When you actively watch a comic and then realize that it only started a couple months ago and the creator is still finishing it.

They're still good and worth the wait, so no complaining.
