What's the point? Why it over a serious commitment? Why does it exist?

Casual dating is good for when you are young, and you do not want to jump into a serious relationship, I honestly do not plan on getting into a serious relationships until later on in my life.

It's just not being in a serious relationship I guess...
Why are fun-sized candy bars called fun-sized? There is nothing fun about a candy bar that is 1/8 the size of a normal candy bar.

I casually dated a girl for a couple of months because I was joining the army and had no expectations for the future because I wouldn't see her 8 months out of the year. I told her this and we kind of just had sex and hung out and went out on dates, it was sort of like friends with benefits.

I went into this thread thinking negative things about it, but it then makes sense and is more common then I thought. It makes sense and is a positive think in the end.

What's the point of serious dating? Why it over casual fun? Why does it exist?

It can also be stated like this, you know? I've been seeing many articles on the impossibility of serious relationships in our times lately, and I think they have a point. Obviously your beliefs and background determine what you find natural or approppriate, so I'd say it's almost impossible to prove a point or reason for existance of any kind of relationship to someone with a different approach.
