Megas are just temp, Alolans are just reskins/typings of gen 1, and legends because theyre special.

I was talking about pokemon that arent "special (Megas and Legends)" & uniquely new (Not Alolans) if that makes sense.

alright stop right there but do you seriously think gamefreak should only design pokemon that are cute and that you personally like? and you're completely ignoring the fact that they're staying self-consistent in their own universe in that inanimate objects can be pokemon too? i fucking hate this anti gen 5 circlejerk like grow the fuck up, trashcans exist, and you're not even complaining about the fact that since the very beginning, they've had designs that were literally just a living pokeball or a circle surrounded by magnets

i mean, theres nothing wrong with liking gen 1, but the attitude of holding it up as the best pokemon generation is awful. it had its ups and downs, but it's just another pokemon game, and people need to stop acting like all the work gamefreak put into the next 20 generations was for nothing. pokemon has always been pokemon, it doesn't magically become an entirely different franchise just because you don't like the company's ideals anymore

it's pokemon, it's literally just pokemon and everything else was still pokemon. guess what. pokemon doesn't stop being pokemon just because someone thinks it was a part of THEIR childhood so THEY have the right to idolise just a specific generation and act like all the other generations are awful for some arbitrary separation

stop judging the new pokemon just for being new... it's alright to just say you don't personally enjoy it anymore and only love the nostalgia form your childhood

Cerilium is hitting the nail on the head. Plus Gold and Silver were far more polished. Except for the part where their save batteries all died.
