However "zucchini" is quite possibly the worst word ever to refer to people in any kind of relationship and coupled with the whole squish/smush/whatever thing I feel like we shouldn't let lolrandom fourteen-year-olds name things that could otherwise have been taken seriously
Lol, as long as the peeps are comfy it should be fine, pretty sure this is fluid and you can call such a partner anything one wants tbh. I am very glad it was informative btw. Zuchinni was kinda weird to me but it's somewhat endearing. I'm gonna look it up again to understand more.
In the defense of random fourteen-year-olds, in a world where you don't see much representation of your own experiences/identities (queerplatonic, asexual and aromantic spectrum, alterous, etc.), having such terms or making up such terms (in cases where it doesn't really exist especially) can be really validating. As always, exact labels can be up to debate (esp. with "queer" given the history).

same i can barely read so most of the time i'm just like oooh! then a big word pops up and im like oooh?
Dang it, I'll try to be more clear then ya'll. The English language is both painful and fun, and I struggle to keep things short and simple sometimes.
