I'm trying to give you the subjective interpretations of myself and the people within the community whom this thread is meant to help. You're looking for objective information in terms of science and discovery. Having realized this, I'm not sure how to proceed. I'm not annoyed with you, I'm not saying you aren't welcome here, but I am saying that I don't think that, unless I'm misinterpreting what it is you're looking for in here (which is answers in sync with scientific basis), I don't think you're in the right place.

no idea why you keep bringing up that I want objective information in terms of science and discovery. I said that sexual orientation is a scientific term that is very well defined, so when you tried to answer my questions with such terms, whilst having a totally own definition of the word it is just confusing and not helping at all.

People are going to have different interpretations about this sort of thing; it's best to just agree to disagree before things get too heated.

This is what I'm trying to tell you, MashFlob. From what I was taught in my support groups, and other support threads, my definitions are at least in the ball park, if not rather accurate to the terminology used by those in the LGBT community.

If you're coming in here, trying to say the terminology is instead scientific and our terms are confusing, and you seem to be insisting that it's easier to simplify terms for your sake, I've already tried to explain why these terms are important to us, for the people to this thread.

As a TL;DR, I'm sorry if I'm confusing you, I just don't know what else to tell you. You keep calling these terms scientific- but you've entered a thread where people who dwell here aren't using the scientific terms. People more in line with LGBT terminology are going to come here. I may or may not update the OP to reflect this terminology more, but frankly, the fact that people have opinions on it right now is exactly why I haven't touched it yet.

And, Mash, scientific terms is objective, and that's exactly what I'm trying to say- trying to apply science here isn't going to get you far when asking about why things are defined here. There's a different definition because we embrace interpretations as per people, not scientific research.

How does that change that you either like the same gender, the opposite one or are cool with both?

Saying that there are only two genders implies that those who don't identify with either male or female are invalid.

Better to let people define their own feelings than to try to categorize them forcefully. I don't understand why using new terms triggers some people.

I've been meaning to ask people a bit more about actually putting some general terminology in the OP...

Does anyone have anything they'd like added or more specifically clarified if I were to do this?

Ooh. I know this word. My ex was obsessed with the idea of me being tsundere.

I hope this is relevant.

Well, the guy who was nominally referable as my ex.

It's complicated. I don't know.

Hey everyone. Just got a couple thoughts on my mind.

1. Does anyone else get really irritated when someone else (especially someone who is married) tries to tell you how you're supposed to feel about your lover by whatever certain time period? Or maybe someone else with opinions about your experiences, especially sexual ones- where they might try to say something like certain experiences are important for them, and if you don't have them, then there's some kind of problem?

2. I personally try not to be overly sensitive about more insensitive remarks about my sexual orientation, or someone's perhaps more naive comments toward me about myself or my boyfriend. I always try to be patient and explain why something related to being LGBT is important to not just dismiss or disregard. But at what point, exactly, do you guys feel is fair to get uppity with someone who is being too insensitive? Like, what is a reasonable about of ignorance so that someone can't just say you're being unreasonably sensitive?

2. i suck at being patient and sensitive to how other people aren't exposed to the same experiences, because i used to go "hey i'm asexual" and fucking fly into a shouting rage whenever someone made the "like a plant?" joke because i was so fucking sick of it. i tackled a guy once during english class because he was a douche about it, oops

Alright, the people at Giant in the Playground games were very nice to allow us to use their glossary without any objections.

See them here!

Another reminder that these are only to help explain, not strictly limit a viewpoint on these terms. Best approach is still to ask whoever uses these labels how exactly they identify, since everyone likes to have an opinion on these things, but here you go! General terms to help get a sense of our vocabulary.

Sure. Relationships are a personal thing; it's not something others can pass judgment on. S'long as everybody's happy then I fail to see any problem. Although, most people with those comments only say so because they mean well.

If they're blatantly insulting you, there's no reason why you can't get 'uppity' with them. You can usually tell when somebody is being a pisslord on purpose or if they really just don't know anything about it.

Question:
What is the most ludicrous assumption and/or stereotype you've heard about your...not sure how to word it...your part of the LGBTQ+ spectrum, as it were, as in sexuality, or gender identity, etc etc, I'm sure you understand what I mean

Demisexuals should always fall under an umbrella term of bisexuality, and men who are questioning are just gay people in denial.

With some people, you can joke about that... Other people can just be ignorant and really think that.
