I have noticed the massive hype for Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, and Undertale. I have also noticed that so many people hate it. They all say that it is because they are "kid shows" and Undertale isn't that great and they are childish, but what they don't understand why so many people love them: Storytelling and Characters

I didn't mean to write an essay, but people need to stop being so rude and hateful to everyone and just play the game instead of saying that all these things suck, stop talking about things you don't fully understand.

(For the people who love these things, at least try to be less annoying about it, it does get kind of old to everyone)

we live in a world where people dont always get what they desire. You may desire kindness, but that will never be granted to you.

Also, undertale is a subpar rpg with sOME WACKY CHARACTERS AND A GIMMICK WE W LAD. I played it, and it hardly compares to countless other rpgs, if people want to tumble their fav characters, i cannot judge. All i can do is state my opinion.

Not everyone claims it to be the best, but you can't deny that for a solo developer, it came out pretty well. You can't deny that it is a decent game.

People just don't like the same things as everyone lol
You can't expect everyone to absolutely love something, and people are entitled to their own opinion.
If they dislike SU or UT so what?
If they say Gravity Falls is a childish show, so what?
Everyone who makes a statement like that is stating their opinion.
It's like this, if I were to make a plate of food, let's say a bit of curry, and serve it to ten people, there'll always be mixed reviews.

'Eh kinda bland'
'THIS IS AMAZING!'
'Ew...'
It's the same thing with games, shows etc.
If I were to serve fine dining, I'd still get mixed reviews, some may be more positive but it's still mixed.

You can't expect everyone to like it, and I know that that's not the point of this thread but hey, that's how it goes.

EDIT: I also enjoyed all the shows/games mentioned in OP and think they are, at the least, decent but I guess looking from a neutral perspective...

This in a nutshell. Who really gives a shit about other peoples' opinions. You believe and think however you like to think, and don't make fuckbois change the way you think and are.

This post was more to say don't be an ass and/or don't be annoying with your opinions, more than anything else. Having different opinions is fine, but even so, you can still respect the other's viewpoint instead of shitting all over it, just saying.

its literally made with rpg maker. The music is ass, and so is its humor.

This is all proven 100%, undoubtedly true with a simple google search of the fanbase.

imo they're all pretty cool. a little overhyped, but i mean what fandom doesn't gush about how their choice of thing is great? like, you can't expect people to strongly like a thing and not hype it up lol

Steven Universe is meh and Undertale hit me really hard emotionally once at the beginning but never managed to recapture that same level of emotion-inducingness. Plus its combat mechanics are really dumb. A normal turn-based system would've worked better. Ultimately, it's a good game, for the size of the core team that made it.

It's fine if they don't like it i guess.What i really don't like is when these people intentionally get into a discussion with the members of a fandom just to try to prove them wrong.

I do agree that that is annoying.

TBH Undertale is great, it's just too much money for the actual gameplay.
I've seen a bit of Steven U. I've seen better shows on the same channel.

never played Undertale or heard of Steven Universe but the former seems pretty overrated, imo

Undertale is a mediocre game with above average story. But with every fan base it is literally cancer cause I am undertake trash and I know my own fanbase

The problem with anything is perception. And with things like this, the fandom is usually what dictates the perception of those on the outside.

SU - Fandom has some quite toxic elements, but the majority are nice people who put the rabid fans down quite quickly. As a result, public opinion is neutral to relatively positive.
Hell, I used to be one of those who viewed it as "just another stupid show for kids". But then I watched it.

UT - Unfortunately, the more toxic elements are becoming more vocal, with stories of fans sending people death threats if they said they wanted to do a Genocide Run. As a result, public opinion is starting to shift to negative.

But then, there will always be people who hate on things just because it's popular. It's best to just ignore them and move on.

To be honest, I can agree for at least Gravity Falls. Steven Universe and Undertale however, I am still yet to see or play so I have no opinion there :3

The problem is that people have no experience on the actual designs of making games, thus the only way they can make a comparison is to compare to similar games since most people have no basis on how or what's like to develop a game.

The problem is that when making comparison with other games, on undertale's case, is that they forget the little details, since toby fox is a music compositor he obviously has limited expertise on programming and art producing (that's the reason the game has low graphs and is run on RPG Maker engine.) With the 50k he was awarded with the campaign he probably barely made through the 3-4 years of dev, so if you want to compare it to other RPGs you must first analyze who made, the budget, amount of people involved.

Undertale might be a small indie game with its limits, but that's the charm of the game, i paid 10 bucks to see the artistic side of someone that wanted to share something with the world, not some RPG. I enjoyed the story and the music even with the engine + graphics limitation, it was something only small indie games that made me like it, i felt something for the game. Unlike big AAA games only aimed to gain the most amount of money, most of those games are fun but they lack the soul that small games have.
