Hi! I'm Auditor, and I've been on the ToS Wiki for a long while brainstorming good ideas for roles, and I'm forwarding two roles here. There are two ideas here because they merge on investigation results.

Role Name: Preserver

Alignment: Town Support

Attributes:

Your effect resolves after the day 'ends'. After that, the day will be reset to the Discussion phase. There may be one additional lynching may occur. The day number will not change.

You may only extend the day twice.

You may only extend the day once per natural day.

Goal: Lynch every criminal and evildoer.

Actions:

Sun Icon: Extend Day

No night action: Nothing

Target Self: N/A

Target Other: N/A

Secondary Target: N/A

Investigation Results:

Sheriff: Your target is not suspicious.

Investigator: Your target is a keeper of time. They could be a Preserver or Moderatist.

Consigliere: Your target is a keeper of time working for the Town. They must be a Preserver.

Wins with: Town, Survivors
Must Kill: Mafia, Serial Killers, Arsonists, Witches, Vampires, Werewolves.

Role Name: Moderatist


Alignment: Neutral Evil

Abilities: Extend the night during the night.

Attributes:


Your effect resolves when the night 'ends'. After that, all effects of the night will take place (killings, roleblockings, investigations, etc) and the night will restart. All living players may preform their night ability again if they wish (except the Jailor).

You may only extend the night twice.

You can only extend the night once per natural night (non-Moderatist created night).

Goal: Live long enough to see the Town lose the game.

Notes:

All killings will not be shown when you extend the night. All kills from the natural and extended night will show up the next day.

Actions:

Sun Icon: N/A

No night action: Nothing

Target Self: Extend Night

Target Other: N/A

Secondary Target: N/A

Investigation Results:

Sheriff: Your target is not suspicious.

Investigator: Your target is a keeper of time. They could be a Preserver or Moderatist.

Consigliere: Your target is a keeper of time working against the town. They must be a Moderatist.

Wins with: Mafia, Serial Killers, Arsonists, Witches, Survivors, Vampires, Werewolves.
You must kill the Town.

The general idea is interesting. Personally I like the concept, but I am unsure if these roles would fit in the game.
- Which messages will occur when a night/day is extended?
- How will extending a night interacts with Vampires?
- Can extending a night be roleblocked?
- Interaction with the Jailor when night is extended?
- Can wills be updated in an extended night when person is already dead?
- Can people who normally die at the night, can still perform their nightaction in the extension?
- Does using a charged ability (example: Vesting) twice in an extended night cost one or two charges?

Preserver:
In very rare chances would the town want to lynch twice in a day, making it targeted for endgame. Jailors or Vigilantes can take care of the threats. It' very OP if used properly, but in most cases it's useless.
Remember, Moderatist supports the town more, because they can get one more kill, more results, etc. Again, useful endgame.

Those are some very good questions.

1: A simple "A Moderatist extended the night!"
2: It will count as a night for "one night between conversions".
3: Yes. Moderatist is not immune to roleblocking.
4: After the Jailor jails one person, they simply release their target (or execute) and do nothing for the extended night.
5: No.
6: Nope.
7: It costs 2 charges.

Extending the day does not necessarily mean you are trying to get the town to lynch twice. It's also useful when you need some extra time to vote someone up in those Lylo moments or someone needs some extra time to explain something important. There are definitely times where the Town loses when the day does not last long enough.

I will say that the 2 roles are very good made, but I think they don't need it on TOS.
Not because these roles are bad it's because, It doesn't bother me about the day/night time limit.

I say drop the Preserver and make the Moderatist a Town Support. In that case I'd like it.

I like the Moderatist, but I don't think it should really be a Neutral Evil.

As stated previously, I think it should be a Town Support or maybe a Benign.
My favorite roles: Jailor, Janitor, Hypnotist, Potion Master

All right. I'll drop the Preserver and rename Moderatist to Preserver, and make it Town Support.

How's this?

Role: Preserver

Alignment: Town (Support)

Abilities:

Extend the day.
OR
Extend the night.

Special Attributes:

Your effect resolves when the day/night ends. When they day/night ends, it is reverted to the Discussion phase/ beginning of night. (everyone can preform an additional lynching/night action)

You have two charges that are shared between day and night extensions.

You can only extend the day/night once per natural day/night.

If you choose to extend the day, you cannot extend the night the next night, and vice versa.

Actions:

Sun Icon: Extend Day

No night action: Nothing

Target Self: Extend Night

Target Other: N/A

Secondary Target: N/A

Sheriff: Your target is not suspicious.

Investigator: Your target is a keeper of time. They must be a Preserver.

Consigilere: Your target is a keeper of time. They must be a Preserver.
