Role Name:Psycho

Role Alignment:Neutral Chaos

Attributes:You wish for some quiet time in the evening.

Abilities:kill one person each night
-if you kill someone who isn't a voice, then you cannot kill for a night to punish yourself
-if you kill someone who is a voice, you feel a sigh of relief and can kill again

Goal:Stop the voices

Wins with:town, witches, serial killers, werewolf, arsonist, survivors, other psychos

Special Attributes:if you choose to wait a night and not kill anyone, the next night you will be forced to kill someone at random, unless they are immune.
-can read mafia chat, jailor chat, and medium chat, however, similar to spy, all he will see is "voice" no matter whose talking.
I.E. Voice:we should kill sarah bishop tonight
Voice:role?
voice: were you disguised? what role were you?

-Is immune to blackmailing. He has no secrets to hide with his demented nature so he's always able to talk. he will not be notified if someone attempts to blackmail him
- he is not bite immune, however, a vampire biting him will kill him.

Additional Information (comments):the "voices" are any mafia member *regardless of whether or not they use chat* jailor and medium.
- the psycho is not night immune so he can be killed at any time.
- he cannot kill night 1 as he does not know if there are any "voices" yet. this does not count for his 2 day break limit *I.E. night one he doesn't hear voices, so night 2 he isn't forced to kill, only night 3 onwards*
like arso, he does not perform his action while jailed, and if he is jailed, he does not go out to murder automatically the next night.

like executioner, if all night speaking roles are dead before him, he will win, and it will not matter if he's hung/burned/mauled/executed after. if someone remembers/revives a role that can speak at night, he does not lose and does not have to kill anymore

Night 1 text as Pscyho. "You hear a dulling buzz in the back of your mind. The voices begin to haunt you.
Night 2 and beyond text: "The voices will not stop, you wish only to silence them" *given choice to kill, similar to any role that can visit at night*
*On days he chooses not to kill*: You did not obey the voices. You will pay for that"
*Nights after he chooses not to kill*:The voices grow restless with your inaction. You will listen to them no matter what!"
*Nights after he kills a "voice"*:You feel a little less preoccupied, a voice has been extinguished! You feel enough vigor to go out again.
*Nights after he kills someone who isn't a voice*: You feel ashamed for your actions, and have stopped to reflect, the voices laugh at your insolence"
*Night he hits an immune*:This one cannot be broken, you will need help.
*Night after all "voices" are dead*:The silence soothes your soul, you are free from the beasts!

The psycho is not roleblock immune, if he gets roleblocked on a night in which he chooses to kill, it pushes his kill back. if he is forced to kill, however, he kills the escort/consort instead, and, if escort, goes through the guilt the next night. *or, again, whenever he is unroleblocked if it happens multiple times in a row*
this is so he doesnt tear through the escort/consort alerting town/mafia to his presence, and makes it so he doesnt waste a night in remorse, unless the voices become ruthless. the only one immune to his auto rampage is the jailor if hes jailed as he cannot break through the bars.....lets go with that.

investigated by investigator: Your target lies in wait, they must be a trapper, ambusher, medusa, poisoner, or psycho!
investigated by a consigliere: Your target kills voices in the night, they must be a psycho!

so ive been told my roles are too wordy, all of the above is mostly tech stuff, this is what youll see if you roll this char

first taste of insanity - Win one game as psycho

Unintentional ally - have an sk kill the jailor the night youre jailed
ventriloquism guidance - never personally pick a target to kill in a game
finally some peace and quiet - live to see all people who can speak during the night dead
One man army - Kill anyone who speaks at night by yourself
ear to the ground - kill ONLY those who speak at night in any game
OH COME ON - have an amnesiac remember a role that can speak at night

edit: removed win gained night-immunity, as well as the text saying a psycho has turned into a survivor, he will still become a survivor if there are no voices day 2, town will just not be notified, thus removing his confirmability

I just now thought of something too, if there's no jailor, mafia or medium at the start of a game *rare, but possible* either he automatically gets his win, or he becomes a survivor. but any feedback on any suggestions would be appreciated. i also dont know if it should win if all the roles who can speak are killed AFTER it dies, but then again, arso's win conditions can be completed so long as one arso lives, so thoughts on that matter?

What if theres no medium/jailor/mafia members?

Also i see no reason to nerf mafia. Even with occupying the neutral killing slot and giving town more chance to win.

Hmm, yeah, thanks for the input, i think i can modify it slightly though, make him unable to kill the gf *but perhaps give some hint to it* something like

*hitting someone who is immune*:The voices are unable to break this one, you will need help

or something. hows that? it would say the same for ww, arso, bg/surv with vest, or gf, so just by hitting the godfather, you wouldnt know for sure, and the nerf on mafia goes down considerably *since he cant kill the gf*

this bit here i was unsure of myself. it would be odd to give him an auto win, so maybe on day 2, he becomes a survivor, and gets some vests? if you have any ideas yourself though, im open to hear them

Turn him into a jester.

Change his alignment into neutral evil, so it cant fill the neutral killing position and when the jester is revealed no one would be scared again of any.

Im talking about ranked here btw.

i could do that, but i think only if there is no "voice roles", turning him into a jester is actually not a bad idea. still, i think turning the schiz alignment to neutral evil is something that is off, as he will kill both good and bad, where as the witch and exe *and to some extent jester* are all aiming for at least 1 good role, so neutral killing would suit it better as its like sk/arso/ww in that it doesnt care who dies, it just wants its objective done. i WILL however, update the jester bit

I'm going to say that while this might be an interesting role, I don't like it on the basis that mental illness is a very serious and COMMON problem, but there is a lot of stigma around it. I really think the last thing our society needs is even MORE stuff insinuating that mentally ill people are all violent and killers.

Most people with mental illnesses- even schizophrenia- are NOT violent. And most of the time when mentally ill people become violent, it is towards themselves, not other people.

Fair point made, i suppose the name of the role itself could be changed, it was just something i thought of off hand. willing for suggestions on that as well

Again, im open for criticism, so you dont need to be so blunt. i thought it would be an interesting idea to have someone hunting specifically those who speak to someone at night to shut them up because they want the silence from the voices, and schizophrenic was the first thing i thought of. yes, it was bad of me, but if you have a better idea for a name, im more than willing to hear it

1. I feel like being able to read ALL of the chats is a little OP. As a nerf, why not make it so that instead of hearing "Mafia:", "Medium:", and "Jailor", he hears "Voice:", so he has to figure out who's talking. It should be pretty obvious who's who; however, it is a necessary nerf if he is able to hear everything.

2. Because the Jailor is a voice, should he not kill the Jailor at the end of the night if he's jailed?

3. I know Edmund suggested changing it to Neutral Evil for Ranked purposes, and I can see how that would seem to be a good idea, I'm not yet convinced that that is a good idea. He is BY FAR the weakest Neutral Killing role, so I agree that he can't be Neutral Killing. However, Neutral Evil doesn't really fit either; he wins with town (and with good reason). My suggestion: make him Neutral Chaos. Not an alignment in-game (yet?), but several others have used Neutral Chaos for their role ideas before, so it's not a new thing.

1:you have a point there, ill change it. though to be honest, its not really op one way or another, all it would do would be an automatic voice detector, but then again, theres not much point to it if
A: mafia is silent
B:a jailor is there *always asking for roles, hes gotta be a jailor
C:a medium will always be asking for intel first, then roles later, so he would be easily distinguised as well

2. i considered this, but i felt it would be too much like sk/ww if he was able to, and it would further nerf the town, as well as nerf him. "JAILOR WAS KILLED BY A PSYCHO LAST NIGHT *shows last will on who was in jail* it would narrow down suspects too much, but jailing him keeps him from killing, then no one has any dedicated roles to call him by, as they dont know if he will autokill the next night, or 2 nights later

3. i still think neutral killing suits him best, simply because, generally, he will be killing much more than just the medium and jailor for town, in the end, hes probably more likely to draw than any other class out there. still IF there was a neutral chaos role implemented, he would fit under that perfectly, but for now until they add more alignments, i think its best he stays killing, as, he does go out and kill. its just randomized. what if theres 1 mafia and 4 towns? *3 meds and a jailor*....what if theres 10 people who speak at night, then hes gotta go on a rampage. which, is also why i didnt give him night immunity but DID give him blackmail immunity. how many sk's/ww's go on the stand only to be blackmailed and hung without a chance at retaliation? his blackmail immunity would change that, and more than likely, town would vote him DOWN, as, sure, he kills mediums, but if theres 6 mafia out there, ill take all the help i can get. not being night immune gives mafia a fair chance to kill him too, which makes him more balanced

i will update the reading of chats to be simple "voice though" thanks for the input

I'm sorry for the deep necro, but with the implementation of the neutral chaos role last month, ive updated his profile a tad *making him NC, as well as 100% blackmailer immunity* so im bumping this partially to get more looks on it for future reference, and partially to fine tune it now that the game has more alignments he can fill. any questions/thoughts are welcomed ^_^

The problem with Neutral Chaos (now that it's an actual thing) is that it can only spawn in the Any slot in Ranked, which myself and many other players want removed.

Still, that might be good for a role like this. Up to you.

sorry for the re-necro, i updated some of his win conditions and the like, to make it a little bit easier to win, and a little more balanced. i also changed what happens when hes forced to kill to make sure that he can be noticed, similar to ww's new patch where if hes visited on the night of a full moon, ww automatically attacks his own visitors if he didnt choose anyone.

this is extremely town sided

only two roles have their own night chat

jailor and medium

medium isn't guaranteed to be in game so really only one town role to kill there will always be 3 mafia to kill

i would make mayor a voice too since his voice is his power he a figure who leads by talking and leadership


also vampires would count for this in all any right?

i like the idea of this but it is super town sided

its sort of town sided, i will admit, but he is only after the mafia, vampires, coven, mediums....and as a townie, do you really want to risk letting your jailor go for only a possible ally? its very possible for this guy to kill every speaking role in the game, but also very possible for him to kill anything BUT speaking roles, and also, none of those *med/jailor/maf/vamp/coven* is truly guaranteed to be in game anyways
