I don't like to have a ton of rules, so I'll just have a few to keep in mind (inspired by Rick's rules):
- Be respectful and have fun! This should go without saying, but be respectful to other players regardless of alignment or opinion. If you feel yourself getting overwhelmed (or find yourself in hot water), just log off and take a break for a few hours. Also respect other players' time zones. I live in New York State, so all times I give will be Eastern time, but I know for a fact that we have players from across the world.
- Don't gamethrow. Gamethrowing is purposefully going against your role card for no tactical reason at all. Voting against another mafia member is not gamethrowing if it's to prove yourself as a townie - but saying "I'm mafia and XYZ and ZYX are mafia" is not alright.
- NEVER edit your posts!!! (exception for the game moderator) Even if it's just a smiley face or a typo, if we give an inch by allowing users to edit those, even moments after, people will start using this for malicious purposes. If you made a mistake, quote the post and fix it - no one is going to kill you for a typo!!!
- No editing daychat quotes for malicious purposes. Yes, lying is a major part of the game, but quoting from the day chat is usually for reference - there's no need to waste time looking back at the original post. Misquoting whispers, night actions, or anything else not coming from the day chat is perfectly acceptable.
- Do not talk about the game. - Don't talk about the game outside of daychat or night chat (mafia only). Exceptions are PM's to me (feel free to rant at me), whispers to other players (again, through me), or dead chat (You may PM any dead player directly, but this information may not be shared through a medium).
- Stay active - If you don't post or send me a PM within a 36-hour period, you will be prodded, which is an official warning sent to you and posted in chat. If you get 2 prods in a row (72 hours without posting or PM'ing me) or get 3 prods total throughout the game, you will be removed and replaced.
- No jesting - Remember how there are no jesters? This extends to mean there should be very minimal jesting in the game. I'll be a little more strict than other games, but I will warn you before giving out any punishment.
- Last wills - You can put anything you want in your last will. You must send your last will to me before you die (obviously
). Many players put suspicions, night findings, and other information in last wills (some players also put jokes and parodies in). There's no set limit, but don't write an essay. - Death notes - You can send a death note along with a person you kill. Please note that the same death note will be used regardless of who you kill (ex. if Bob tried to kill Sue and says "Sue is dead!" in the deathnote, but Bob is witched onto Bill, Bob will kill Bill and leave the deathnote "Sue is dead!"). Again, no set limit, but don't write an essay.
- Whispering - Whispering is allowed. However, it must go directly through me. Tell me who to whisper and give me the whisper (max 140 characters - feel free to use abbreviations). You can use multiple whispers to go over 140 characters, but you will have a maximum of 5 whispers per in-game day. Use them wisely.
- Mafia chat - The mafia get a dedicated night chat (no spy so don't worry about saying names). This will be open to all mafia members at night for posting and during the day for viewing. However, if you are jailed, you are not allowed to see the new content until you have a night where you are not jailed (old content will be sent to you).
