Votes without explanations area good way for people to think you are Mafia just trying to lynch another Mafia for Town credibility if a Mafia is lynched and you voted without saying why.
The worst thing you can do is jump on a bandwagon and expect people to think you are Town if a Mafia is lynched. It just doesn't work that way.

Also, Leese is right. Avoid hardclaiming unless EVERYONE is all for it. It's not a defense, so don't try to use it as such. Very bad Day 2 Town play in NFM 8 led the Mafia to know everyone's roles by the start of Day 3 the last time we played.

Let's not hint at any of our advantages. You can screw with their heads basically by being flamboyantly helpful. They'll start screaming and pulling out their hairs debating whether you hold a Power Role or if you're a Citizen for hours on end.

It'll also motivate them into talking more often to try to keep up with your appearances. It's a Win-Win on both sides of the token for the Town.

Don't do this. First of all, you might not realize it, but you're soft claiming (in two ways) here. Second of all, there are many, many reasons for Scum to do this as well. I'm sure you know this.

Generally, ever asking any Town role to do something for you (unless you clearly explain all the various reasons of why everyone should agree why it should be done) will result in your request not getting done. It pushes people to suspect you if the request seems unreasonable. To be honest most of the time when I get Town Protective and I see day 1 requests I typically will ignore them. Mafia will also probably ignore it too in all honesty. Mafia and protectives are always playing cat and mouse trying to guess who the other is targeting that night. Protectives will not target important people because Mafia doesn't want to take the obvious target, but then Mafia realizes that and goes for the obvious target, then the protectives try and guess the Mafia will attack the obvious target and protect them.
The 2 are always trying to think what the other one is doing meaning no 2 protectives will think the same and no 2 Mafias will think the same. Heck when I was Godfather we tried to kill the least obvious person to be protected and the Bomber planted a fuse on them night 1. So really asking for protection wont really change either the Mafia or protective's opinions other than making you the central focus of are they going to attack you since you are the obvious target or go for the unlikely person who rarely talks?

That's actually not how it worked last time I was Mafia.
We had a thread hidden from view on the Town of Salem forums. Only the Moderator running the game and the people in the Mafia could view it.
Unless they changed that style since I was last Mafia I think it still works like that. But I haven't been Mafia in a while, relatively that is, so I suppose Moderators could have shifted to that style and just not said anything about it.

And if it's referring to WIFOM that makes you say that, the OP mentions the term, as does the terms thread. And I've seen the movie the term came from.

Not as much as you've been doing, or rehearsing, almost as though you've been actively studying for a test or something. I can't help but notice how eccentric you're being, if only because you're more remarkably spot on about the current Mafia situation in front of you more than an IC would be.

Not that it's alignment indicative or anything. But it's hard for me to ignore that "you've done your homework" as you continue forcefeeding this information down my throat. I get it, alright? You're aware, fantastic. :P

Let's hope that awareness pays off to our benefit.

I'm aware the day started without warning, and that it's only Day 1 at this time. However, the concept is still the same. It's too early for reads. At the very bare minimum, we can always talk about what if situations for Day 2, which prepares us for people actually dying. It also prevents us from wasting any bit of precious time, so we can do that much.


In NFM 8, the Vigilante was found by the Witch, and shot another Town Member. That's probably the most epic of worst case scenarios to ever have happen to us. So, barring that, what does everyone think we should prepare for? What should we be afraid of tomorrow?

That was a very lucky witch hit which I don't think will happen again. The fact maf also hit the witch N1 and knew who they were from the start was also bad for town.
Let's not have a start like that here pls!

Obvious bad scenarios would be to lose the TP or an investigative role N1. Depending on the mafia roles in play, worst case would probably be to have one killed and the other found by consig.
Witch finding any of the key towns N1 is also no bueno. We don't want TI controlled from the start and come back with false/unclear reads.

Things we should hope don't happen:

-Town Investigative revealing themselves after a pressure vote
-Town Protective trying to lie about being a Citizen when they clearly weren't
-N1 confirmed Town Killing

Um, yeah that's about the size of it. Hopefully most of our Citizens wind up dead instead of the PRs, because that just makes PoE fun as hell. :twisted:

If there is no kill tonight, we should assume Mafia hit the Witch, unless there is evidence against that.
If the Protective or Investigative is taken out, that's going to cause a lot of trouble, I agree. But what would be worse still is if a Janitor makes it so that we don't know. However, I really am not sure what the plan for that should be, if anything. After all, while it gives scum claimspace, we almost certainly won't be doing a massclaim unless we're close to losing majority, which is not going to be the case D2.

Actually, yes. Looking over this again, there has only ever been one Janitor in the Newcomer Forum Mafia. In that game, the Mafia won, so it's clearly been a blessing to not be a problem for the Town in any other game. It's extremely difficult to do much about anything if we never know who that first person was.

Hmm.

Better hope that if that ever happens, there's a medium to compensate. :? Or otherwise more people available to stop the Mafia outright. Day Chats + Unknown role slots for the Mafia are definitely an ouch. I'm surprised that there hasn't been more craziness in more games on this front.
