Okay. So let's look at that.
Neasans wrote:Well, they are confirmed scum to me since they claimed grey, so I'm guessing they're either a Neutral trying to take a stab in the dark somehow hoping I wouldn't out them, or a Mafia trying to either find a Neutral or to fake a Neutral. I'm kind of leaning Neutral on them on the fact that they claimed it and seemed to want to fish out at me.
I can't really think of any other reason to message a person who hadn't even posted in the game yet, other than possibly knowing them from another game/meta.
I'm gonna have to agree that the setup seems to likely be 6v2v1, considering how 1 Mafia would seem too little and 3 would be too much since 5v3v1 would be bullshit for us. And there's apparently a Mafia or some equivalent considering how the message guy seemed to be sure "red" people exist, plus the OP states no NKs or conversions iirc, so the only other type of scum that doesn't fit that bill afaik is a Mafia. So I'm guessing there might be two Mafia and a Neutral (whoever it is that can send messages).
So here you are "considering" it could be a Neutral, then dismissing it. Where do you dismiss it? Because "5v3v1 is bullshit" is your only argument against three mafia -- where you're clearly assuming that the role is Neutral. You went from "kind of leaning Neutral" to "now that we know this is definitely Neutral there must be only two mafia."
So yeah, you "consider" that it might be mafia, but immediately, for no reason, say "I'm leaning Neutral, thus it's Neutral and here's what that means."
It's true you don't take the time to refute the claim it might be mafia, but that's largely my point. You never really consider that option. You state that it IS an option, but you don't think so because reasons, and you feel like it's Neutral. You then extrapolate the entire setup based on this one assumption that you never justify.
Then, it's pointed out that the message could be pro-Town. If it's a genuine message, it could be a townie trying to see if you would immediately tell the town about it, or would respond privately. Again, for reasons I previously mentioned, I don't believe this to be the case, but it makes a TON more sense to me than "scum looking for scum." Your response?
Neasans wrote:Also, I honestly don't see what pro-Town benefits claiming Neutral to me would have? Considering how I instantly would assume someone doing that to be scum. Though admittedly I might be somewhat biased against the messenger because of my experiences with Dizzy and K1ll -.- But honestly I don't understand. You say it could be a reaction test. But what would the point of it be? Obviously if they outright claim to not be green, they claim to be "grey", I'm going to out the message immediately because it looks fishy as fuck. So what would anyone expect to gain from that message if they weren't scum?
So here you dismiss the notion that it could be a reaction test because of your reaction. When Met explains why a town reaction test would make sense, your response was again dismissive:
Neasans wrote:Meh, I guess I could see the scenario. But honestly, I still think it was a scum sending it.
And yeah, here you say "scum," but you've only ever discussed in depth the idea that it's Neutral, and you've used that as an assumption to go on to extrapolate the initial setup.
So, yeah, it seems you're pushing the "Looks Neutral to me" agenda.
