Elastoid wrote:Cow, what's your opinion on the claim of a Major God, AND Citizen simultaneously? Do you believe Arc would give different, Minor God names to Citizens? Sounds like Loki can do a lot of stuff, so I'm less inclined to believe that he's a Citizen and not a mafia deception role.

I think Citizen is the role archetype that could be anything. So Loki would be either Town Deception, Mafia Deception, [x] Support, or Citizen -- as an example.

There's Town Deception?

I mean, I posit that there are more than nine Major Gods, so yeah, it's possible for all of us to be Major, but if the Retral theme held true, then the lore of the God would have a large bearing on his role (lord of the Underworld delays death).

So now I'm looking at Loki, a god who's known for deception across lots of media, and specifically in this game is mentioned as both the god of fire and deception, and I'm thinking, "why would you choose THAT god for a Citizen?"

I think there's a good chance Von is actually Loki -- with no guarantee there are minor gods in the mix, there would be too few major gods to claim an inaccurate god name and hope it didn't invite CC -- but I think Loki would have a power, and Von's claim doesn't add up.

My honest thinking (which stems that there's mafia chat with three members) is that the mafia know all their gods, and all three are Major, but that an actual Citizen would get a less exciting god than fucking Loki, the main antagonist in the Avengers movie.

Elastoid, there's many types of Citizen-esque role possibilities. See Rick in CFM 13 for example.

Hm. I see. Notable that Von did say "basically". Seeing it that he claims to be Loki. Is Loki supposed to be a powerful god in age of mythology or would that make sense? I have never played nor deeply read of this game at all.

The answer is quite probably "nothing", sadly.

My point is, Loki is one of the names that you recognize not just from this game or from social studies class.

Zeus is another example, but Arc is clearly Zeus. Hades is also well known. Thor, Odin and Loki are also well-recognized. If there's a Citizen, I'm going to expect him to be a lesser-known god, without an obvious ability associated with him.

For example, if I were making a BM role, I'd probably make him Hermes, because the "messenger" paradigm is too good to pass up.
If I were making a protective role, Isis sounds like a damned good choice.

Loki could easily be killing things or tricking people. Loki is a great rolecard for Jester (shit that just occurred to me) or a deceptive role like Framer.

If I'm choosing a god for Citizen, I'm more likely to go Athena -- goddess of wisdom -- or maybe someone like Horus. Not Loki.

And sorry, Cy -- I'm already on Von as scum, I presented my case without this side-note on flavor. Feel free to ignore this.

I'm saying, why are you ruling out vanilla Citizens as a possibility? I get that other roles exist, I'm just confused as to why you're so certain that there are no pure Citizens.

Well, mostly because this is a closed game and given the theme it seems like there should be something to every role? Since we are gods flavor-wise, I say. I don't fully rule it out, but I assume there must be something even to Citizen-esque roles.

I pick all of them. tl;dr: You say I refuse to consider it could be an alignment other than Neutral, which I clearly did not.

Funny how you fail to address the fact that your burden of proof is lacking, and instead attempt to limit how much I can call you on your bullshit by demanding I pick one.

Neasans wrote:I pick all of them. tl;dr: You say I refuse to consider it could be an alignment other than Neutral, which I clearly did not.

Okay. So let's look at that.

Neasans wrote:Well, they are confirmed scum to me since they claimed grey, so I'm guessing they're either a Neutral trying to take a stab in the dark somehow hoping I wouldn't out them, or a Mafia trying to either find a Neutral or to fake a Neutral. I'm kind of leaning Neutral on them on the fact that they claimed it and seemed to want to fish out at me.

I can't really think of any other reason to message a person who hadn't even posted in the game yet, other than possibly knowing them from another game/meta.

I'm gonna have to agree that the setup seems to likely be 6v2v1, considering how 1 Mafia would seem too little and 3 would be too much since 5v3v1 would be bullshit for us. And there's apparently a Mafia or some equivalent considering how the message guy seemed to be sure "red" people exist, plus the OP states no NKs or conversions iirc, so the only other type of scum that doesn't fit that bill afaik is a Mafia. So I'm guessing there might be two Mafia and a Neutral (whoever it is that can send messages).

So here you are "considering" it could be a Neutral, then dismissing it. Where do you dismiss it? Because "5v3v1 is bullshit" is your only argument against three mafia -- where you're clearly assuming that the role is Neutral. You went from "kind of leaning Neutral" to "now that we know this is definitely Neutral there must be only two mafia."

So yeah, you "consider" that it might be mafia, but immediately, for no reason, say "I'm leaning Neutral, thus it's Neutral and here's what that means."

It's true you don't take the time to refute the claim it might be mafia, but that's largely my point. You never really consider that option. You state that it IS an option, but you don't think so because reasons, and you feel like it's Neutral. You then extrapolate the entire setup based on this one assumption that you never justify.

Then, it's pointed out that the message could be pro-Town. If it's a genuine message, it could be a townie trying to see if you would immediately tell the town about it, or would respond privately. Again, for reasons I previously mentioned, I don't believe this to be the case, but it makes a TON more sense to me than "scum looking for scum." Your response?

Neasans wrote:Also, I honestly don't see what pro-Town benefits claiming Neutral to me would have? Considering how I instantly would assume someone doing that to be scum. Though admittedly I might be somewhat biased against the messenger because of my experiences with Dizzy and K1ll -.- But honestly I don't understand. You say it could be a reaction test. But what would the point of it be? Obviously if they outright claim to not be green, they claim to be "grey", I'm going to out the message immediately because it looks fishy as fuck. So what would anyone expect to gain from that message if they weren't scum?

So here you dismiss the notion that it could be a reaction test because of your reaction. When Met explains why a town reaction test would make sense, your response was again dismissive:

Neasans wrote:Meh, I guess I could see the scenario. But honestly, I still think it was a scum sending it.

And yeah, here you say "scum," but you've only ever discussed in depth the idea that it's Neutral, and you've used that as an assumption to go on to extrapolate the initial setup.

So, yeah, it seems you're pushing the "Looks Neutral to me" agenda.

Because he blatantly lied about what I said, keeps excusing it under what can only be presumed as shrugging it off under the carpets, and the argument is bullshit in the first place which no Town member in their sane mind could honestly think it makes sense in any version of reality.
