Make Coven Classic free, for the health of Coven in general.

I apologize if this has been brought up before, but this topic is not really searchable since "Coven" and "Classic" are in a lot of threads.
I'm a 4x user and a Coven subscriber since 2017, so motivation here is only to improve the quality of play in Coven, not get free stuff.

Coven Classic is not a very popular mode, but it is a useful tutorial mode for new players. The problem is that because coven tickets are limited, and free weekends are sparse, not many people ever get to learn the ropes and they end up in more advanced modes like Coven Town Traitor and VIP. They don't know the mechanics, are easily manipulated, or simply fail at their coven duties due to no fault of their own.

The system in general just doesn't do enough to train new players for long established modes with deep metas and a dedicated fanbase. This also likely frustrates new Coven buyers who have to play catch-up.

Here are some predicted benefits to a free Coven Classic:
- A 24/7 training ground for new players without the pressures of coven tickets.
- A comfortable environment for people considering buying Coven to experiment with the roles and learn the mechanics.
- A sustainable population for all of this.
- Higher skilled play in the more popular Coven modes during free weekends and ticket use.

I hope this suggestion is given serious consideration.

The thing is that coven classic shows all the new roles from the dlc, except the mafia ones. So this would really discourage players to buy the dlc in my opinion, since they would still be able to access the roles anyway.

Except classic classic and coven classic are meant to be very vanilla. There isn't much in the way of variation and it can get old pretty fast. No custom layouts, no ranked, no mafia, no chaos/rotating modes...

Frankly, the best Coven has to offer would still be behind the paywall.

I mean...the game already has a means to "try" coven roles, but it's honestly done clunkily as I explained in my original post. Honestly the whole marketing of Coven could stand to use an overhaul because it doesn't seem like much has changed since 2017.

Right now it's barely different than it was a couple months after Coven's release. Coven subscribers cluster in a few places (AA, rotating mostly), reviews bemoan about how "nobody plays Coven" (which is false), and players who try it out get overwhelmed by people who have been playing for years. It's a lot like going back to old arena shooters like Quake and Unreal. There's nothing to bridge the gap, nothing to make the popular Coven modes accessible -and- enjoyable for new players.

As a Coven subscriber, I don't feel like having the Coven roles being treated as sacrosanct "subscribers only" in every context is good for the health of the expansion.

I'm NOT suggesting that the roles open up to everyone for customs, and I'm not suggesting more than that one basic mode be made available.

I just feel the tutorial Coven mode should actually get used to teach players, albeit not 100% in the way originally intended.

How can you encourage people to buy the DLC when they know they have no one to play the DLC with? Especially when you have 14 friends, every single of them must buy the DLC, which means 15 times greater price of the DLC just to play some games with friends? I suggest custom Coven games hosted by DLC players to be played by everybody who the host invites.

Thats not a bad idea really.

the release of TT has brought a lot of people to coven, and they honestly arent that good, when you spend 3 days trying to explain how sheriff works in coven, while sheriff is telling his friends that CL was inno night 3 and cant possibly be coven, youre in for a frustrating game.

The past 2 VIP weeks, I have seen more LO, invest and vet claims from coven, than I have seen in the past 2 years.... let alone TS claims when the escort is clearly in the graveyard....

I would actually support this. For the reasons aforementioned, this is a good addition. There could be a little bit of tweaking, like replacing Random Coven with Town Killing, and replacing Pirate with a Jester, and replacing Pestilence with Serial Killer. This is to showcase less roles so much can still be included in the Coven Expansion. This is also make people who bought the expansion feel less scammed than if it were to have become free.
