Hey Townies,

Today we are releasing Town of Salem patch 3.1.14. This patch contains several improvements to feedback given to users, changes to improve consistency across platforms, and bug fixes. We are also implementing some new features to help deal with ban evaders more effectively.

IMPROVEMENTS
• General - Lightened the hue of the Serial Killer blue role color as it was often too dark to easily read.
• Account Creation - Added some more specific feedback on why a username is not allowed.
• General - Feedback is now provided after correctly solving a captcha.
• Lobby - The Add Role button in Custom Lobby was changed to say Toggle Host Controls.
• Lobby - Changed the Title of the Host Controls slideout from Add Roles to Host Controls.
• Lobby (Non-mobile) - Adding roles from the Host Controls slide out now require a double-click rather than single-click. Mobile retains the single-click ability.
• Game - Last Will - For consistency with Notes, moved the Send Will to Chat button to the bottom right corner.
• Game - Increased middle scroll button speed on chat box history.
• Other non-user facing changes.

BUG FIXES
• Chromebook - Fixed enter key not sending chat messages. Must enable the Send Chat on Lost Focus checkbox in the Burger Menu.
• Startup - Fixed client hang when unable to process a particular startup file.
• Burger Menu - Fixed Ranked Statistics label incorrectly showing Pre-Ranked Statistics on first open even though user has reached Ranked status.
• Shop - Fixed issue where restricted free users could access the shop by attempting to purchase a potion in the Cauldron with insufficient TP.
• Lobby - Fixed issue in Custom lobbies where duplicate or other quantity-limited roles could be improperly added to the role list resulting in an unstartable game.
• General - Fixed some instances where free Coven tickets were earned but couldn’t be used.
• Game - Fixed incorrect tracker results when Mafioso picks one victim but Godfather chooses another.
• Game - Fixed Tracker detecting Godfather visiting victim when Godfather orders Mafia to kill the victim.
• Game - Fixed a Tracker tracking Godfather bug.
• Game - Added Medusa vs. Transporter stalemate detector.
• Game - Added Jailor (no executions remaining) vs. Coven Leader stalemate detector.
• Game - Added Hex Master and a Jailor with no executions remaining stalemate detector.
• Game - Added Escort vs. Vampire stalemate detector.
• Game - Added pirate win check during all dead scenario.
• Game - Juggernaut will remove poison when gaining basic defense.
• Game - Tracker would incorrectly see someone visiting when roleblocked/dueled & controlled.

SERVER
• The filter used for account names is now more strict.
• We will now verify a Refer-A-Friend name exists before allowing you to create your account.
• We are implementing a new system to restrict IPs when a player is banned. This will not affect a majority of users, but will stop abuse cases.
• When a Steam user is banned or suspended their Steam ID will go into a permanent table to prevent abuse of the account deletion feature to avoid bans.

For Medusa vs Transporter, I feel that it would be more fun to allow those roles to battle it out. The Medusa has the option to stone gaze at home (if they haven't exhausted all 3 uses) so this would act as a counter-play to the Transporter swapping both players. On the other hand, the Transporter can try and swap both players to make the Medusa attack themselves if the Medusa chooses to visit to attack, at the risk of dying to the Medusa's stone gaze at home. Both roles could also play mind games to trick their opponent into making the wrong choice (e.g. Transporter could bluff that they are too scared to transport in case the Medusa uses a stone gaze at home, in order to bait the Medusa into attacking themselves, whereas Medusa could bluff that they will directly attack the Transporter to scare them into transporting whilst they are stone gazing at home). Automatically awarding a Coven victory in this scenario seems to me like missed potential for some fun lategames.

I like the additions to the stalemate detector for Coven Leader/Hex Master vs Jailor without executions, though. It makes sense that factional evil roles locked in a stalemate against a Jailor without executions in a 1v1 can receive the victory, as it means the Jailor has already made a mistake or exhausted their abilities (plus evils often have to fight harder for the victory). It's already been the case for Mafioso, Godfather, Arsonist and Vampire for a while now, so it makes sense to include the Coven roles too.

Are there any plans for the stalemate detector to be updated so that the other Coven faction roles (Poisoner, Potion Master, Necromancer and Medusa) receive a Coven victory when in a 1v1 against a Jailor without executions?
Just some Sheriff who didn't claim until Day 5, and has no leads whatsoever

No need to be alarmed...

So I tried logging in on the browser version today, and it said I need to update it to play, which I assume is for this patch. But it doesn't give me the option to update. Where am I supposed to do that? I was playing the past 2 days and it was working, but as far as I can tell there is no place I can click or go to to update the game in browser. Please help

wait is still season 2 for like the 2nd year still? also unity was released a long time ago, when will there be any actual changes be made to the game... TOS is looking an awful lot like yandere simulator, ok time to disappear now
RNG is never good for any strategy based game. Please learn the definition of what that means, especially if you're one of the people constantly defending it.

Unity has not reached the webclient, thus its not 100% out.

When I try to Login I get the message: Disconnected new version please update. How do I update?
